During these uncertain times, getting another virus, flu, or even the dreaded Swine Flu or H1N1 virus would be devastating to some and even deadly to others. Protecting ourselves as best we can may prevent us from catching any one of these viruses and make our lives much more safe and enjoyable. Essential oils are
one great way to use natural sourced products for prevention and protection from viral, bacterial and airborne contagions. In this article you’ll learn how to use the essential oils and other tips to help keep you healthy, happy and strong.
I think it’s so important to take good care of our own health and be responsible for our own well-being. By taking these simple steps, it could save your life!
Step 1.
http://yellowstaressentials.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/essential-oils-to-help-prevent-h1n1-swine-flu-and-flu-viruses/
Wash your hands frequently, and every time you use the bathroom. (Better yet, would be washing your hands before and after using the bathroom as many others do not and may leave unwanted germs on doorknobs, faucets, etc.). Keeping your hands from touching your mouth, nose, face, etc. as much as possible may help as well, but isn’t as easy as it sounds, so carrying a gel sanitizer with you is great idea. You can make a natural version of this too that won’t dry your skin with alcohol.
Step 2.
http://www.snowdriftfarm.com/gel in hand.jpg
To make an easier version of the natural hand sanitizer; just blend up to 10% dilution of the essential oil RAVINTSARA into aloe vera gel and use it whenever needed. I wouldn’t use any more than a 5% dilution if it’s for children 2 or under. You can also alternate RAVENSARA and RAVINTSARA whenever possible for adults. I wrote another ehow article on How to make a non-drying hand sanitizer with essential oils and aloe gel if you’d rather use that.
Step 3.
Also it would be wise to purchase a home, work or room diffuser. These are very beneficial as they can help purify the air you are breathing. A wonderful blend for your diffuser to help prevent flu, viruses, Swine Flu or H1N1 would be;
Ravensara, Ravintsara, Tea Tree and or Lemon Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon Myrtle, Cedarwood, Pine, Lemon Eucalyptus, and Cinnamon Bark.
Do not use this blend on skin as it may burn or cause sensitization. It’s best for diffusion or diluted with purified or distilled water for a countertop spray.
It also would be wise to alternate different essential oils so you’re not using the same one over and over (you may make yourself immune to its properties with overuse of one specific oil). Other oils you can use are Thyme Linalol, Eucalyptus smithii, Thyme Thujanol, Eucalyptus Lemon, Lavendula Angustifolia, Clove, Cinnamon leaf and other anti-bacterial or anti-viral essential oils.
Step 4.
Regularly clean all home surfaces and countertops. The above blend would be ideal for a countertop spray diluted with distilled or purified water. (or a mixture of any of the above essential oils). Just add about 25 total drops to 16 oz. of water, shake and use.
Step 5.
Use natural anti-virals whenever possible; like drinking green tea, cranberry juice, eat garlic and stay away from chocolate, honey, dairy products and bananas as they are mucous producers and are detrimental foods when trying to avoid a flu or viral contagion.
Step 6
Take good care of yourself by eating right, getting enough sleep, exercising and surrounding yourself with nature (plants are nature’s air filters). Don’t forget to take a multi-vitamin, maybe some extra Vitamin C, Zinc and try drinking herbal teas.
Following any or all of these steps would be very beneficial to you and your family as well as those around you in preventing viral infections, flues and other contagious maladies. For more information see a blog article written about Essential Oils to help prevent H1N1, Swine Flu and Flu Viruses.

www.rosecole.com – Holistic nutrition coach, Rose Cole, shares how to use essential oils for health. Various essential oils have been used medicinally at different periods in history. Medical application proposed by those who sell medicinal oils range from skin treatments to remedies for cancer, and are often based on historical use of these oils for these purposes. Such claims are now subject to regulation in most countries, and have grown more vague to stay within these regulations. Interest in essential oils has revived in recent decades with the popularity of aromatherapy, a branch of alternative medicine which claims that the specific aromas carried by essential oils have curative effects. Oils are volatilized or diluted in a carrier oil and used in massage, diffused in the air by a nebulizer or by heating over a candle flame, or burned as incense, for example.
